Frequently Asked Questions

What is phonics?

Simply put, phonics is the study of letters and sounds. Phonics brings together the sounds of the English language with the letters – and combinations of letters – that make those sounds. It is a fast way to learn to read and write.

Do you have more information about the licences?

The licence subscriptions are for one year from the date of purchase. All the resources – over 35 videos – are assessable via the website for 12 months.

How long does the programme last? Is it time based, or progress based?

The programme is neither time based, nor progress based; the approach allows for consolidation and revision at leisure, we suggest a minimum of 15 minutes per day. The individual does not need to master one video before progressing to another video. The videos teach the learner how to read English and the learning experience builds upon itself.

Does my child need to be able to read to start the English Fast with Phonics programme?

No, the English Fast with Phonics programme supports the individual to learn to read.

How do these phonic flashcards help with reading and writing?

Most sounds in English can be written in different ways. For example, the words ‘sent’ and ‘cent’ sound exactly the same yet are spelt differently. Each word has its own meaning.

The flashcards allow the individual to practise saying the sounds of the letters, and the combination of letters, as they are written. They are also used in the ‘Say It First’ game.
